This piece grew from a logo I did for a company in Orlando. It was for a team project thing and they were called the Argonauts. In researching Argonauts I found some cool pics of the argonaut octopus and thought it would be a good combination with a ships wheel because it is named after the ancient Greek sailors. The argonaut in this drawing is a female. The thing on her head or back is an eggcase. They are also known as paper nautiluses and are found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world. The team didn't like it and wanted something with greek soldiers on a ship. They were happy with the logo I ended up giving them but I really liked my octopus version. I’m glad they didn’t like the original logo otherwise I might not have made this drawing.
My originals are hand drawn graphite on smooth Bristol paper and come framed in a frame that I buy from Michael’s with a 40% off coupon.
